About This Project

Inspired by Christian Dior’s first female artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri. “Calculated Distortion” references Chiuri’s “Alchimiste”, a geometric dress, which features an eye-catching checkerboard that changes in size and shape from the neckline down to the hemline, and a feather-embroidered short cape. “Calculated Distortion” features sewn strips of box pleats that increase and decrease in size to form the shape of the dress. The jacket was created by sewing together the individual boxes that were turned inside out instead of pleating them. “Calculated Distortion” embodies the elements of Dior and Chiuri with its clean lines, geometric shapes, and full skirt making the wearer feel feminine and strong.
