Participating for the third year, Blue Linen Creative with Jennifer Garber and Christopher Geissinger, designed and created “Azure Waves”.
According to Rosita Missoni, “A piece of clothing should be like a work of art. It should not be bought for a special occasion or because it’s in fashion, but because a woman likes it…and feels she could wear it forever.”
With over 8,300 inches of paper waves knit together without any visible seams, “Azure Waves” is 1960s Italian Missoni detail meets 21st century ombre. The colors blend from one to the next using 6 different Mohawk Curious Collection colors from shimmering Ice Silver to a luxurious Dark Blue. The paper’s rich, glittery alloy creates a shimmery appearance and tactile feel.
The cape is more than a cape, but art in motion as it carries the model down the runway. Made from over 450 spheres, individually cut, folded and glued it is an airy, fluid sculpture. All the elements of “Azure Waves” amplify qualities inherent in Mohawk Paper: strength and flexibility, color and light, adaptability and connection. This collaboration between Mohawk Paper and Blue Linen Creative exemplifies the beauty that premium materials can bring to any paper creation in a unique way making this dress beautiful, memorable and dramatic.
